Fleeting Light - Rose Haw (2023)

Energetic blues, grey and pink scratch-like marks on black resemble the sky on which three butterflies hover over a silhouette of Rose Hip branches. The butterflies are orange, pinks and silver metallics. Simple dark brown wood frame behind perspex.

I used oil pastels to infuse vibrant energy and alcohol inks to create reflective butterfly-like panels. The Rose Haw’s (or Hip’s) silhouette represents mortality, inviting contemplation on life's fleeting beauty—a blend of vibrant vitality and reflective impermanence in a single piece.
