Lying with Buttercups

Lying with Buttercups (2024)

Annie Henry

A cyanotype landscape on a grey / blue background. Landscape is formed from a simplistic line drawing of a naked person. There are white masked buttercups in the blue foreground

Drawn from life at #stjustlifedrawing at Sancreed using charcoal pencil then coated the paper with a mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide.  I picked and pressed buttercups from my paddock and then arranged over the artwork and left in the sun for about 20 minutes.  I used water to wash the paper and to fix the image resulting in this stunning cyan blue picture.

Charcoal drawing, acrylic with cyanotype on paper
