Bracken with Blues and Greens (2022)

The colour of the shiny bronze bracken against the haze of the turquoise sea / sky moved me to create this oil painting. St Michael’s Mount features sat centred on a horizon made from the corresponding land of Mounts Bay. The mount features without dominating. Playful mark making of the bracken gives life, as does the white butterfly, a detail that was later added helping confirm the playful movement and life giving force of the bracken foreground.
